As a grantee of Club Passim’s Iguana Music Fund, I’ve had the opportunity to write and record my first solo album over the past year. I am so excited for this day and to finally share this music!
The album, “When the Aster Blooms,” is a diverse storybook of original tunes and songs, inspired by my native New England folk music and my love of Irish traditional music.
In an evening of Irish traditional music, Christine and Caoimhín will share tunes and songs, from old to contemporary compositions, on fiddle/viola, uilleann pipes, flute, sean nós dancing and their two voices, in English and the Irish language. The concert features tunes by Ann Arbor composers, as well as tunes inspired by Ann Arbor.

Presenting three workshops in collaboration with Headin' Home, the first on learning creative improvisation through a series of games and the second on fiddle-guitar collaboration. For the third, I'll be accompanying Dan Hedden in his workshop on guitar techniques! We'll close the evening with a special duo performance at 8:30 PM, to soothe feet tired from dancing! More information, including a full schedule, can be found here.
I honored to be participating in the inaugural year of the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy for New Music! These few days away will be a chance to explore my creative process, meet fellow composers and work with amazing performers - more to come!
